Educational courses at the Academy of Advocats of The RA are  organized on the basis of the Law "On Advocacy", also the Charter, and the legal acts of the Board and Rector of the RA Academy of Advocacy.

Educational courses are organized in two stages: theoretical course and practical course.

Courses at the Academy of Advocates of the RA  are conducted in a on-site (in-person) or distance learning (off-site) format, according to the professional specialization. 

The duration of the Courses is 12 months, and for a lawyer with at least three years of professional experience, it is 6 months.

Courses at the Academy of Advocates of the RA are being organized in the evenings, from 18:30 to 21:30, which creates an opportunity to combine studies with work.

During the theoretical training phase, students learn the skills to apply their university knowledge in practice, draft and other documents, and solve  legal problems.

Classes are organized using computers, and by applying the Academy, and prior to admission to the Academy, applicants assure that they possess computer literacy skills

During the practical training phase, students undergo a probation period under the guidance of a supervising attorney, during which they draft a number of documents and participate in court hearings.

During the practical training, moot courts are organized for students, in which individuals with the status of a judge are involved as judges. During the practical training phase, students also provide free legal advice to citizens under the supervision of an advocate, thereby learning the client communication skills.

A student is considered to have graduated from the Academy of Advocates if: s/he

1.has successfully completed the theoretical phase, and

2.has successfully completed the practical phase, and

3.has no outstanding tuition fee obligation toward the RA Academy of Advocates.

To the students who have graduated from the Academy of Advocates, the Rector shall, within 10 (ten) days, issue a certificate valid for a period of two years, which entitles the student to participate in the advocate qualification exams for during the validity period of the certificate.

In accordance with the curriculum, subject programs and curriculum schedule, theoretical courses at the RA Academy of Advocates are conducted in the existing order (form), according to the approved schedule:

1.mainly through direct participation in classes in the classrooms,

2.additionally through studying courses given offline and/or completing assigned assignments,

3.additionally through direct participation in online courses,

4.additionally through the student's ongoing independent work with educational materials.

The training is carried out in two stages: theoretical training and practical training (probationary period).

The training of a student with at least three years of professional legal experience (including a special applicant) is carried out under the simplified procedure, and the training of the remaining students is carried out under the general procedure.

The duration of training under the general procedure is set at 12 (twelve) months, and the duration of training under the simplified procedure is 6 (six) months.

The theoretical training process at the Academy of Advocates of the RA is organized 5 (five) days a week, and if necessary, 6 (six) days a week, from Monday to Saturday, between 10:00 and 22:00.

The theoretical training phase is organized according to the curriculum: 6 weeks of study followed by a 2-week examination period. This format is used 3 times during the entire phase.

During the examination period, students take exams on the courses they have studied and completed during the previous 6 weeks.

The examination period is also a liquidation period, during which retakes of exams that were assessed unsatisfactory during the previous examination period are organized. In case of unsatisfactory results, retaking the exam is allowed once for each subject.

Distance learning

Distance learning is a form of systematic learning, when the direct and indirect learning process between the student and the lecturer is carried out mainly by means of information technologies and telecommunications.

In accordance with the curriculum, subject programs and the curriculum schedule, distance learning theoretical courses at the Academy of Advocates of the RA are usually conducted online.

Remote training is conducted using Google Meet or another equivalent platform, in the form of online training.

Attendance at a remote training is considered appropriate if the appropriate camera is connected and the listener is visible.

Distance learning is implemented in the following ways:

1.online through communication between the lecturer and the student using electronic means of communication (simultaneous connection, including to courses conducted in the existing mode),

2.offline through studying courses downloaded on the appropriate platform and/or completing assignments,

3.through the student's ongoing independent work with educational materials.

The  Academy of Advocates of the RA is authorized to organize certain courses, as well as moot courts and other events on-site, in an on-site manner, in which the participation of students undergoing distance learning is mandatory.

Students undergoing full-time and distance learning manners shall take the current exams in the classrooms of the Academy of Advocates of the RA, with the exception of those students who, due to an objective reason recognized by the Rector or Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, cannot appear for the exam, provided that participating in the exam remotely will not disrupt academic fairness and will not cast doubt on its result.
